Tell us about your upstart business: Megan Hardre Photography has always been a dream of Megan Hardre. When she decided to stay home from work after the birth of her first child, she finally had the time and the resources to put the dream into action. Now she has focused on photographing weddings and related portraits and added staff to provided assistance, additional photographers, and a new division offering wedding planning. She is willing to travel anywhere in the world but current base of operations is in Colorado Springs, CO.

What do you see in the future for your upstart? The difficulty with growing a photography practice is leveraging artistic talent outside of the owner. To that end, we have engaged additional photographers to allow us to reach more than a wedding per weekend and we have started a new division offering wedding planning services. The growth of these new offerings can continue without being limited to the owner's time.
How has the current economy affected your upstart? Several weddings have been canceled because brides can no longer afford the cost of the event. Conversely, since our prices are slightly lower than the competition, we've received more calls that may have gone to higher priced providers.
Recommended services / advice: Advertise everywhere. Getting our name in front of just about everyone has been a key to our success, and most of the avenues are free or inexpensive: Google ranking, Google Maps, Facebook, submission to just about every search engine or free directory on the planet, business cards to related services providers.
